"We're pullin' inter dock, Captain!"
"Thanke for your help, mate." The red fox touched his brow, his blunt claws against his red-orange fur striking. He closed his ocean-colored eyes, the thin lids making him seem harmless, like a sleeping kit. His long hair swirled slightly as he rose from his chair. He closed the hardcover book that lay on the table, the worn cover looking at home on the table. His worn black sea-boots matched with the book's cover, and beat a steady pattern as he walked evenly acrossed the small distance between himself and the half open door. A little wolf, hardly more than a cub, stood in the doorway, egarly awaiting his captain. The fox picked up the saber from where it was leaning against the wall beside the door and put it through his belt, adjusting it so that it was in easy reach.
"Trevor, me liddle mate, tell Tritre that he's on guard duty. If he gives you any trouble tell 'im it's captain's orders." Rikian Jamel Zarooah smiled down at the faithful pup, whom nodded vigorously and took off towns the stairs down to the barracks. The fox sleepily blinked and closed his door again, then put a paw on his bare chest. Well muscled but slightly underweight, Rikian blinked at the thought of the sight- going to make peace agreements without properly dressing oneself! With a yawn, he walked over to the chest in the corner of his room and opened it quickly. Taking out a red shirt with golden hems, her pulled it over his head, his ears flattening. Shivering as the cold material slipped down to cover the warm fur of his chest, the large male fox pulled out a long black cloak as well. The clap that held it at his throat was specially made for the pirate from a bobble he'd found- a small black pearl. His red-gold fur blended with the warm colors of his shirt, His black cloak, boots, and pants giving him an informative air. The brown umber colored belt around his waist (the left side up a little higher, since the right was supporting the weight of his sword) completing his outfit, apart from the rings in his left ear; two gold hoops, and a silver one between them were forever a part of the 'gentleman on fortune's wardrobe.
The fox captain of the Night Pearl was on important business in Riya.
~*~In the Village~*~
Clomp clomp clomp...
Rikian didn't much care about his sluggish pace, enjoying looking around. The dirt path stretched before him was open and waiting for his exploring pleasure, ready to have it's secrets discovered at the fox's leisure. But not now, he had something to do- a reason to visit. He'd heard that Erksta Rivverrider VII visited Riya Inn often, and had sent word to the otter captain that he'd like to meet. The young creature knew his way around Riya, since he delivered trade goods here sometimes. Cloak swishing at his ankles, he turned down a side road, leaving a few prints from his boots behind him.
Humming to himself, the fox let his mind wander as he stepped up the wooden boards that made the steps up to the Inn's door, the smell of drinks washing over him as he twisted the knob and opened the door. Walking to the bar- careful to avoid a group of singing beasts- the tall, willowy fox sat down on a stool. A vixen approached, a smile on her face.
"What'll you have?"
"Red wine, miss, if you please." The fox flipped a coin onto the bar with a small movement of his paw. He listened to the barmaid take the money and busy herself getting him a glass of delicious red liquid, but kept his eyes on the door.
Waiting for a sign of the otter pirate.

The little puppy wagged his tail furiously; most dogs did this when they were happy. He stood on his front paws, wearing a golden necklace, and a little purple, royal attire. Purple silk looked good against the puppy's black fur, and the little violet top-hat was twisted, the front facing the right. A little gold ear-ring was looped through his right ear, and a tiny pistol was hidden in a pocket low on the purple button-down with yellow cuffs and shoulder trimmings. He walked importantly to the Inn of Riya. The puppy, older than a babe but barely a child, was obviously the child of a very rich dog. However, he was the child of a very poor dog. His father was dead; he was being raised by an otter. Originally, his parents named him Trerra; it meant "honesty" where they were from. The puppy had told his new father that he was from Fuse Isle, but Erksta knew not to trust things said by todlers. Since the pup had been rescued in the Western Sea, the otter named him Miracle, because it was mircale he was alive!
He trotted to the Inn with a swagger; he was the adopted son of a very rich otter! The puppy had no boundaries - if anyone messed with him, they would mess with Erksta Riverrider - for he was the messenger pup. When the little puppy fought with the door to open, he made a foolish scene; it would have been funny to watch. Miracle saw the fox, immediately realizing that this was the captain that Erksta had told him to report about when he arrived! But before he went back to the Manor House - it was far away, you see - he wanted to get a little drink. The puppy climbed ad best he could up onto the bar-stool, before asking the waitress for help. A vixen helped him up, giggling at the little pup, but knowing not to be too rude; it would be offensive to Erksta. Miracle smiled with gratitude, before eagerly pointing at a flask of Grape Cordial. "Ooh, ooh! That one!"
The pup took a sip, spilling a little on his cute suit; lucky for him, he was wearing purple, anyway! Putting the drink down, he grabbed a little tart, and nodded to the fox. "I'll go tell Daddy you're here!" Grinning at Rikian, he turned around and ran as fast he could to the door. Pushing it open more efficiently, the puppy took his long dash to the Manor House. It was an exercise, but he knew he wasn't the otter's true son, and the pirate didn't have to pull him out of the sea when he was unconcious. So, he was willing to do anything and everything for his father. How he got in the Western Sea, no one knows, and no one knows how he survived unconciously for that long. It certainly was a miracle. Finally spotting the Manor House's large pillars up front, he walked to the door.
It was a very rich place. Six pillars line up on each side of the two story mansion, with pots and jewelry all around. It was mainly Mayor Taut's items, but Erksta owned some, too. The pup saw the rabbit, Mayor Taut, sitting at a long, wooden table. He was eating a huge roasted duck, with a side of lettuce and cabbage. A few carrots were to the left of his delicacy, and an otter was sitting beside him. The plates were all made of silver; these plates were only found in the richest manors, and this was only Mayor Taut’s lunch. The splendor that would be dinner – sadly – would be missed by Erksta and Miracle. The pup took the hat off, remembering his manners. Miracle placed it on a hat rack, and strode leisurely to the table. He took a seat next to Erksta, and smiled one of his biggest. “The fox is here, daddy!” The otter stared blankly. Pushing some of the duck’s meat on the puppy’s plate, he nodded. “Ye done goo’, ‘ere is some o’ tha bes’ duck ye’ll e’er eat. Mi’acle, thank yer.” Captain Riverrider turned around as he was walking away; this was a sign of respect to Mayor Taut. “May yer riches grow, Ma’or Tau’.”
He was clad in his best cloak; the otter was wearing a long, flowing black cloak with gold squares holding it to his gray button-down. The button-down had red trimmings, and the black pants were silky. Erksta had two gold teeth, one in the middle of his top, and one in the left at the bottom. When he smiled, it would shimmer; his smiles were usually a sign that he was in a good mood, and when he was in a good mood, he was dangerous. He walked slowly to the door, grabbing a black pirate hat from the rack, with a red bandana. The bandana poked out around his forehead while his hat was over his skull. He was a fearsome sight; everything was business with the otter, even if he did enjoy plundering and pillaging. As he strolled through the village, he kept his head held up high; he was important and rich. One of the main reasons this scummy village was even alive was because of his efforts in trading. On the ship, he was Captain Riverrider, but in the village, he was Lord Erksta Riverrider VII. The otter smiled mischievously; he had met this fox before.
They were never on peaceful terms, but they had gotten better. And now, if they had an alliance, they could both fight Passion. Erksta growled; he hated that female fox. Cursing her under his breath, he scratched his head. One day, they would have their revenge. “Passion Nigh’sor’, Scu’ o’ tha sea!” He clenched his fists, his scimitar dangling dangerously from his belt. His pistol was hidden under his cloak, strapped to a black holster on his back. It was hidden well; if anyone had seen it, they hadn’t said anything to him. Well, no one would. Who wanted to pick a fight with Captain Riverrider? Now, he was recovering from his thoughts of Passion, and his ego was inflated again. Truthfully, he was just envious. How could she get so rich so young? She was naught but a girl! Still, he kept strolling, pushing the thoughts away. Once Captain Zarooah had made an alliance with him, they would sink the Bloodwake into the bottom of the Western Sea! Yes, they would! Erksta had his plans; the dangerous smile on his face indicated that he was thinking of the death of his foe.
As the big tavern came into view, he smiled, walking to it leisurely. Erksta grinned as he pushed the doors open, seeing one porcupine in the back ducking behind his table. Waving to him, he signaled that he was not going to hurt anybody. With a wave of his paw, the otter could threaten people, or tell them they were okay. With a wave of his paw, he could make the townsfolk do things they wouldn’t normally do. Did he abuse this power? Absolutely. The otter took a seat next to Rikian, taking off his pirate, leaving the red bandana with the gray skull wrapped around his head. His cloak flowed to the floor as he sat down. Unsheathing his scimitar, he placed it on the table. This was a sign of peace. However, he didn’t take out his pistol. No one could see it, he thought, so why would he need to remove it? Besides, if the fox tried anything, he always had Trusty Streak. He named his weapons, and the pistol was Trusty Streak. He rarely missed with it, and the bullets would fly quickly, leaving a streak in the air for only the best eyes to see.
“Well…” He mumbled, looking at the fox to start the conversation. But instead, he started talking. “We’come ta Riya, frien’. As ye know, I’m Erks’a Ri’errider; me shi’ is ou’ there, an’ me crew is res’less, so make it qui’.” Erksta glared straight into the fox’s eyes with his big, dark cloudy eyes. “Me reason is c’ear, I wan’ ta rid tha worl’ o’ Passion Nigh’sor’. Will ye ‘elp me?” He said it as bluntly as possible; Erksta liked to get straight to the point. He didn’t waste his time with long, drawn-out dialogue. That wasn’t business; that was confrontation. To him, there was a big difference. He smiled, showing his golden teeth. Waiting for the fox to respond, he turned to the vixen who was tending the bar. Winking at her, he nodded. “Ge’ me a whi’e wine, will ya, swee’y? Thank yer.” The vixen hurried to pour the glass; Erksta usually acted threateningly at her, but in front of his guest, he treated her well. Thinking to herself, she chuckled. He actually said ‘thank you.’ Handing him the drink, she walked off to the other customers. Erksta took a large sip. He wiped some off of his mouth with his cloak and turned back to the fox. “Well?”
The otter was glad; this fox would make a good ally.

"Your drink, sir."
"Oh, uh, thankee, miss." Rikian nodded slightly, hearing the vixen's soft, soothing whisper, and the clink of the glass against the wodden bar. His mouth, being open a tiny crack in a worried smirk, was instantly flodded with the candy-like smell of cherry-red wine. The jacoben's organ on the roof of his mouth was like a second nose used to taste the air, but most of the time he disregarded the sense, since, well, it was most of the time clouded by the smell of sea salt. He turned and curled his finely taken care of- but still boyishly blunt and short- claws around the stem of the flower-like wine glass. He persed his fully lips, licking their slightly shaped surface, his pink toungue swipping over even paler lips- the blood drained from them from how he had sat with them persed.
Riasing the glass to his lips- holding it between two pawfngers in a dignified manner, his pawpad-palm upward- he lightly tipped it back, the vermillion contents gradually slipping between the small gap between his upper lip and the glass. Lowering the glass again, the fox closed his eyes as the sea colored orbs rolled wildly with pleasure. Letting the paw hold the glass lowwer to chest height, he spun the swivel chair to face the door again, watching the red surface of the wine rock back and forth like a wave. The fox blinked as an akward young puppy stumbled in, a purple top-hat angled janttily on his brow. The fox bit back a snort at his rediculious outfit, watching silently as the lad plowwed towards him, young eyes bright. The pup got somthing the drink, thevixen that had so kindly served Rikian helping the akwardly dressed youngster into a chair.
He turned away from the pup again, or at least tried too. His keen eyes missed nothng since the only other thing for him in the room was the glass he held like a royal chalice. He noticed the gazes the puppy got, admiration mingled with fear, and the looks of respect as well. "Well known little lad 'e be..." The fox murmered, looking back at the shocking purple color. It looks so ridiculious to him, really, the yellow and purple- it made him look like buttered toast with grape jam, in the fox's opinion. The dog-ox smirked at the thought, leaning back and placing his back and elbows on the counter, crossing his legs. Putting his glass to his lips again, he watched the tiny pup dribble drink down his chin and felt a snort in his throat- forcing himself to remeber that this animal was just a child.
"I'll go tell Daddy you're here!"
"Hm?" The fox blinked. "I'm here to meet an otter... You're a dog..." But the little puppy was already gone, leaving Rikian's head reeling. He clicked his boots impatiently.
"What otter are you to meet? Lord Erksta?" Rikian's attention turned to a mouse that adressed him, it's deep brown eyes fixed to his aqua green ones.
"I dunno abo't Lor', mate, since I dun live here. I always knew t'e demon h'as Cap'n Erksta Riv'a'rida." The fox's accent was far more clear when he spoke at a normal metzoforte, the paino he'd been uttering earlier under his breath masking it.
"That little'un be his. Adopted." The mouse replied, the fox noticing the accent of here- a little like his own, but not as thick. The fox look a long drag from his cup, breathingdeeply when finished like a smoker in need of a breath. "Lord Erksta pulled the little pup outta some cold water, and saved the kid's life- little Mr. top-Hat's foreva in his debet."
"Nice story." The fox swirled the last little bt of his wine in the bottom of the glass, the mouse taking the gleam in the cpatain's eyes that he didn't want to talk to anyoe but Erksta.
~*~*~
Rikian had gone through yet another glass of wine, and had just bought a thrd when the otter finally arrived, gracing the entrance with his massive furry figure.
"About time." The younger captain hissed under his breath, watching Erksta aproch. The otter sat down in thw seat beside the well dressed fox, whom swired his chair to face the otter, yet still retaining his relaxed pose. As the otter spoke, the younger sat in silence, listening.
“Well…” Rikian heard his pause for a second. “We’come ta Riya, frien’. As ye know, I’m Erks’a Ri’errider; me shi’ is ou’ there, an’ me crew is res’less, so make it qui’. Me reason is c’ear, I wan’ ta rid tha worl’ o’ Passion Nigh’sor’. Will ye ‘elp me? Ge’ me a whi’e wine, will ya, swee’y? Thank yer. Well?”
Rikian cut his accent, using clear speech- his speech saved for the moment that required it. "I know your name, Erksta Rivverrider, but I do not use the term 'friend' as easily, since it's hard to be friends with a beast you are against half your life. Anyhow, we do have a common passion- our hate of Passon Nightstorm. Miss Nightstorm is, to my reasoning, a threat to or ways." The fox took a sip of wine once more, knowing that his cheks were more than likely turning red from it's influence. "And I join you as an equal, and only for the time.
"When this is over, Erksta Riverrider of the Ryia Island, Captain of the good ship Stasailor, this alliance will be nothoing. We will go back to Cpatain Erksta and Captain Rikian- to each their own. Savvy?"

From across the Tavern, a dark pair of eyes watched otter and fox, the gaze intense and sharp behind a mask of lazy indifference. Sat beside a huge, black coat - plundered some weeks previously from a far taller, wider creature, and battered and travelled in since - dressed in a white cotton shirt and bat-skin breeches, Tybalt Morgan lounged in the shadows, barely noticed by anybeast save the barmaid, who had trotted over some quarter of an hour before to the mouse, made the journey back to the bar and returning with a heavy glass of port. Tybalt could afford it... for now. Glass stem between the ring and middle claws, (?), of his right hand, he had sipped in silence for a while, allowing the red liquid to slip so easily through his barely parted lips, across his tongue to his throat, the sips so small in an attempt to make the port last longer that it barely rippled. His eyes roved around the dimly lit room, always settling back on the two captains. The otter, Erksta Riverrider, he knew of already. A Lord, a captain, a pirate? Accurate rumour cost dearer than the port. Besides, it hardly mattered who the other was, as long as the questions asked about Tybalt himself were few. "Savvy?" Ah, the conversation was coming to an end perhaps. Better be ready then. With this thought, the mouse threw back his head and drained the glass of its contents, left paw edging along the bench in search of his coat, which it found and seized at once. Poised, ready to stand, Tybalt waited.

OOC: Before I post, question for Tybalt. If you're in the crew of the Starsailor, wouldn't you know all about Erksta?

OOC: Oh, right. Sorry, I didn't make it very clear: Tybalt is waiting in the Tavern for Erksta to try and sign-up as he didn't want to go near the ship yet. Sorry... I really should've put that. *Is stupid.*

OOC: It's okay.
Riki - this quest had ended, slightly because it was tedious and I had no time to post. Basically, we're in an alliance now, and you went back to your town, savvy? I'll get a post up for the Starsailor going to Port Rita tomorrow to do battle with Passion. Locked.
